Today, accessibility is not only about eliminating architectural barriers; it also focuses on raising awareness of the fact that we can experience art and culture with our five senses. Culture is one of our fundamental rights, and museums have the responsibility of making it available to us. The Fundació Joan Miró aims to enable all its visitors to participate in the art experience. That is why it provides the public with:
- Programming of inclusive activities for a diverse audience
- Programming of visits, performances and workshops for people with sensory impairments or special needs
- Accessible guide.
- Staff trained to provide information about the range of options for visits with the resources at our disposal
- Staff with a basic knowledge of LSC [Catalan sign language] (at reception, in the gift shop and bookshop)
- Induction loops at information points, in the auditorium and in the audio guides
- Accessible spaces with reference material, equipped with magnifying glasses for low vision visitors
- Rest areas for all visitors
In addition, the museum’s spaces are accessible to wheelchair users and there is public parking reserved for people with reduced mobility. Accessible public transportation (bus and funicular) to the Fundació Joan Miró is also available.
